As fast as they were going their gas was going to run out in no time. They hadn’t stopped all night and Judith could feel a welt forming on her cheek where she’d banged herself against the frame so many times. They didn’t have to be moving so fast. Rest was more important; they’d never get where they wanted to be if that wasn’t a priority.
“We can stop, you know. You don’t have to drive twice as long because I don’t know how to.”
Ryan looked over to the girl, hands gripping the steering wheel tightly as he dodged broken down cars and walkers. Their gas tank was half-way full and he knew that it would soon diminish at the rate they were traveling, but that wouldn’t stop him. The soldier never rested when getting to a destination was important. It wasn’t like he wasn’t used to getting up at four o'clock in the morning and staying camped out on a hillside for days at a time. Sleep was important, but being safe was more important.
“This ain’t nothin’." He smiled at her before returning his eyes back to the road. "I member I drove for four days straight in the desert without stoppin’ f'er nothin’.” Ryan slightly boasted as he reached for the water bottle between his legs. The soldier took a long swig before setting it back down and focusing his eyes on the road again. "You ain’t gotta worry ‘bout me. Just worry 'bout y'erself and just know that i’ll have y'er back if y'er ever in trouble.“ Ryan mused, a half smile forming on his face.
